This is a page to organize our thoughts on the upcoming Doylestown, PA Social Business Unconference, BarCampDoylestown - Success...it happened. See:BarCamp Doylestown 9-20-10 Social Web Coverage
Debrief and planning meeting happened 9/30
Attending were Chuck, Neal and Jim. Barry P slept through his alarm.
Notes below:
- We debriefed and discussed what went well and what could go better next time
- Well: energy, feedback, sessions, buzz, networking, education, doylestown location.... read it on twitter and on the BarCamp Doylestown 9-20-10 Social Web Coverage page
- better next time: Noise in venue, table layout, on site / day of meeting logistics fell on 1 person, ...more ideas?
- We concluded we do want to do another, but need to give it some time. We will look for a date in 2011 during the 1st half of the year
- there was a discussion about the value is making it only 1 or 2x per year to maintain it's "freshness"
- there was also a discussion about many who wanted to attend who could not, and many who found out too late
- We felt we could do another event maybe in January or Maybe in March/April (before summer)
- We liked the September timeframe for this event and thought of doing another then (sept 2011)
- We also discussed other types of events we could organize such as TEDx, Ignite, Limited invitation Barcamp (50 attendees, invitation only, small entrance fee rather than sponsor supported)
- We discussed the possibility of other venues with better acoustics or fewer simultaneous sessions in main room
Conclusions:
- It was a great event and met the various goals of the organizers
- It should be repeated, but not too soon
- We like the venue in Doylestown, but would like to make improvements if we use it again
- We will separately investigate other Doylestown based event formats (but won't brand them Barcamp Doylestown)
- We will keep the network / community alive
- Barry P will be ridiculed for not being able to make the "new noon" when the sun is not shining
- We love meeting at Starbucks
Please add more comments, ideas, suggestions if you want.

A few comments from Manny (moved from frontpage)
I think this a great idea! The focus on E2.0 would be something I'd like to engage in (note sharing, successes, adoption). I was speaking with Chuck Hall last week and he called it a SmartGuy Roundtable...or was it a SmartAss Rountable? Monday evening works better for me than a Thursday. Free is kewl too. Thank you for starting this! Please let me know what I can do to help out.
Manny
Local Business Tie Ins
Where practical, it would be helpful to engage local businesses as tie-ins and sponsors. For example, Bill Norcross, owner of SpeediPrintr in Doylestown, is interested in being an inkind services sponsor. They have high quality digital printing capabilities and can print just about anything we can imagine. We should approach them on nametags, signs, etc., for the event. Mike, feel free to reach out to Bill at 215-348-1100 on nametags. (Or I (Chuck) can do if you'd like.) I am also going to start soliciting additional sponsors. I am sponsoring the venue. Are we OK offering sponsors the ability to put their logos on our site as event sponsors?
I am fine with logos for help - BP 8/1
I'd like to suggest that we consider having 4 concurrent sessions (One in Board Room and 3 in Main Room). Categories could be something like Small Business, Innovative Technology, Strategy/Management, and Wild Card. -- CH
This is a great idea. Have signed up & would love to help. @annekreitzberg

I will be happy to start poking around for dates and locations around Doylestown. Bar and/or office space sounds good. I think we need to have space to run at least 2 concurrent sessions -- maybe 3, given the wide levels of knowledge and range if interest.
I think we should be looking for free/very low cost given the general approach to unconferences. That could be a challenge with Diylestown bars, but I'll begin exploring.
We may want to hone in on types of people/size of company they work for and with as a way of focusing interest.

Chuck I may have access to office space located right in the center of Doylestown that has two conference rooms. Each conference room would fit 15-20 people easily. Let me know if you would like to see the space.

Sorry I missed this morning’s meeting. How did our proposed location go Chuck? I thought of one other location if we need it. It is right outside of town. Let me know.

Chuck, great ideas about additional sponsors. Go for it. You may want to check into the sponsor guidelines on barcamp.org to see how other bar camps have done it.

Jim: I have a friend who wants to do a free wine tasting afterward. He's personal friends with the lodge owner. It would be free. what do you think?
Jim Worth said

Barry, That's nice. Do you think it will start to get confusing, Barcamp with a cash Bar, Monday Night Football, Wine Tasting? It seems to me that Wine Tasting is a somewhat organized event that might take away from the BarCamp emphasis. With that said, I don't feel strongly either way. Just my humble opinion.
